A friend and his wife visited me recently. One of the reasons that they visited me is they wanted to brainstorm as they
realize they must change what they are doing to survive in today’s economy in Spain. It was quite funny actually as they
were thinking that they have to sell some things in addition to being teachers. The tax structure in Spain is very difficult .
Taxes are so high that most people can’t make ends meet . We started talking about products in different areas. As they
are musicians we started with things in the music Industry like tuners. They are all made in China. I happened to have a
contact for that one.. I suggested to horse worming medicine as horses are a hobby of mine. That too is made in china but
packaged in other countries. In China it is only sold in bulk. Today most of the guitars worldwide are made in China. They
are not completely finished, shipped to various countries where they are finished thus allowing them to be a native product
not carrying the label of made in China. Guitars cases all used to be made in local countries as shipping costs were too high.
Not anymore. Now they come into Spain by container from China to the former manufacturing company and are distributed
from there. About the only thing we could find local were cheeses, cold cuts and fruits and vegetables. China is now the
manufacturing capital of the world!
